the more alternatives to fossil fuel there are the better we can move to an energy less-dependent situation.
Energy independence? Doubt we will ever achieve that.

hauler45: what are you asking?
H2 is already in some fleet vehicles and they all have been very safe.

we need to find alternatives to drill baby drill. Because we don't have the oil forever. Yes, there is a finite amount, and with the ever increasing appetite for fossil fuels, we'll run through it much faster than it can be produced.

What do they consider affordable? There is a big difference between what I consider affordable and what Bill Gates consider affordable.

Hydrogen is the way to go. Very clean burning and once hydrogen production is worked out will be the best possible way to go.

I've never STOPPED having confidence in Toyota. You see, you should never "trust" ANY car manufacturer, or any other manufacturer for that matter. "Trust" and "confidence" are two entirely different things, even though they may be related by the fact-sets that generate, or inhibit, each.

Looks simple, tie everything up. Build the cars, sell the cars, service the cars and put the refuelling stations in your dealerships. A company that does this will cover all bases and will find it hard to fail. If our car companies here would use this model they could build vehicles that run on most any kind of fuel. Their dealers could also serve as fuelling stations since most of them have dealer ships in most cities and towns. The only problem would be crossing the mountains or deserts where the sigh says no fuel for the next 200 miles.

Nowhere is stated how long it takes these charging station to split off enough hydrogen using solar power alone to fuel up the average car.

It is going to be very difficult to get this to work economically (without large subsidies).
In order for the refueling stations to work economically there needs to be a lot of hydrogen fueled vehicles in the area but there are not quite a few hydrogen refueling stations in an area it does not make sense to buy a hydrogen fueled vehicle.

Not the way to go, unless hydrogen on demand is used.
