Gasoline reaches lowest level in nearly 4 years
Tuesday, December 02, 2008
The Taunton Daily Gazette -- Taunton — Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are the lowest they’ve been since January 2005, according to a weekly survey conducted by AAA Southern New England.

Self-serve, regular grade gas, as of Monday morning, was averaging $1.84 per gallon in the Bay State, seven cents less than last week, AAA reported.

Prices were found to have ranged from $1.67 to $2.19 per gallon.

Monday at the Raynham Hess station at South Street West and Route 44, where regular was selling for $1.75 and premium for $2.05, Ed Peabody welcomed the news, but also said he wished prices would go as low as the $1.50 mark.

the first time i filled up a tank after getting my license i paid $.97 a gallon and thought it was going to break me. not long after that, the movie 'Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man' came out. in the opening scene, the prices listed at the gas station were 3.99 4.99 and 6.99 or something thereabouts. i thought 'holy cow!! gas could NEVER get that hi!!!' well, not too long ago, it was. and now we're all happy that we're not paying THAT price again and feel glad that its at only $2.

I am really old... I hear people rejoicing about gasoline prices falling back to like they were in the "good old days"... first, those days were not always good, and second, I recall the shock when gasoline went from 24 cents per gallon to 55 virtually overnight, and that was after I had been driving for 15 or so years.

What a coincidence. Gas has reached it's lowest level in 4 years about the same time my savings account reached it's lowest level in 30 years.

This would be nice if the prices stay where they are or drop even more for 4 more years.

No matter what happens, let's keep conserving, acting as if gas was still $4 a gallon. Let's not go back to our lustful ways.

I can't help but wonder why gas prices vary so much from region to region. $1.50 in Atlanta and $1.75 in Boston. Let's keep prices low by conserving. It works!

Gas prices sure are cheap. And if we want them to stay that way, we should all conserve.

Unfortunately, lower gas prices are taking the pressure off of our "representatives" to open up new areas for drilling. We'll all pay for their pandering to the enviros on this issue when global demand rises again and takes price up with it.

Yeah, let's make it the same level as gas was 10 years ago. I remember 90 cent gallons of gas. Let's hope groceries will follow suit.

Unfortunately, I don't think we were conserving enough.... people around here are back up to HIGH speed driving and their BIG SUV's!

These prices won't last that long with this kind of driving!

Heard somewhere that gas prices will stall IF it hits $1.29 a gal. But I 'can live' with that price. Oil industries need to 'live within' their means and NOT be greedy!

Are they going to write an article everyday about the gas prices being down? Is there really nothing more exciting to write about.
