I signed onto FACEBOOK in March of 2010. Within 24 hours my computer was hacked. No one wants to do anything about it so I'm slowly changing my accounts to a new e-mail address. Now if I can find a way to change my e-mail on this sight all will be better...Tom..

I had a facebook account, until I did a search with the following:
[ www.dirtsearch.com ], and found out many places on the net that had
my picture, id and private information. So I deactivated that one and
working on others to clean up and protect my privacy.

wow lots of interest but i would suggest that those who posted a yes/no should just stick to the selection buttons if you're not going to add anything to the message board; unless it gives you points then go ahead
i don't have a personal facebook page just a business one and that's only because a grateful customer created a facebook fan page so we had to get an account to manage the page
i love twitter though and it was great during the olympics for keeping up with what was going on as well as getting prizes and swag

Yes. It is a really nice way of keeping up with friends. However, it is a little too loose on the privacy controls, even when you set your preferences accordingly. I am impressed with the ease in which you can post photos and share links. I was surprised to hear from people I haven't seen in over 30 years, and even more surprised to find out they lived on the other side of the world. It is a powerful search tool, but it does permit people you do not even know to browse through your personal ID information, and with all the identity theft risks that exist already, I chose to wipe out most of the data I had originally recorded on my profile to close that door. I also recently discovered that my employer is secretly browsing Facebook for all their employee's pages to "see what they are up to..."! It's legal and hard to prove malice, but I have heard some very nasty gossip derived from what was posted on some employee's Facebook pages.
