My Neon gets over 30 MPG and at $3.00 a gallon that translates to 10 cents per mile, as I usually can get 10 gallons if I drive one mile out of my way to save 1 cent per gallon then I have not saved anything in fact I am loosing time and adding wear and tear on my car so unless I can save significantly more than a penny or two it just doesn't pay to drive out of my way
